evan almighty

stolen from Lara's blog:

God: Let me ask you something. If someone prays for patience, you think God gives them patience? Or does he give them the opportunity to be patient? If he prayed for courage, does God give him courage, or does he give him opportunities to be courageous? If someone prayed for the family to be closer, do you think God zaps them with warm fuzzy feelings, or does he give them opportunities to love each other?

if you don't find me here..

..i'm probably re-blogging in tumblr. Ü

where have all the muses gone?

i need inspiration. i woke up this morning with one thing in my mind today: i need to get back on my writing. i don’t remember the last time i sat down and wrote a piece of literature (or anything that resembles that) —something i’d start and actually finish. and so after watching two movies in a row (Maid of Honour and Desperately Maybe —i have a knack for romantic comedies), i went down and looked for the old stuff I’ve written; old stories/novelettes, poems, fanfic, heck, even my old journals, but i can’t seem to find them anywhere. I remember filing it in a brown envelope i doodled pink stars on. also, i don’t remember if i hid them inside one of the many unpacked boxes from our ‘96 move (we’re lazy, i know). so after messing up my clothes with all the dust and possible cobwebs, i gave up. I CAN’T FIND MY STORIES. and it’s sad because just when i’m finally on my way to rekindling what i used to be so passionate about, my daily breather from the redundancy called “life”, i feel like the link is now forever lost and i’m going to find it hard to start from scratch.

on a lighter note, i’ve found 5 diskettes (yes, back in the day they were the only things to save files on) which hopefully contain some (at least 30%) of my writing. did i mention that i don’t usually save my work much less use a computer to write it in? yeah, seriously. i got so used to bringing large notebooks with me everywhere especially in school for when lectures got too boring and i thought of newer things to write about. i had thought of typing things up after i was done but the novellette i worked on the longest consumed 6 motebooks, i think, and by the time i was done i was too lazy to start typing it up. oh well.

i just hope i get to recover some stuff from the diskettes, otherwise, they’ll be of no good at this un-inspired phase i’m going through.

when i'm thinking about you

Over the rooftops a plane in the sky
Beat of a bass drum cars passing me by
Under a bridge dark then back into light
A river of raincoats and a forest of faces
Still for a moment then red into green
Slow shuffling shoes whisper sight unseen
Row upon row of houses return an empty stare
Let the daydream for a little while longer

Ah.. yeah...
Hope Ill never wake
When Im thinking about you
(yeah) hope Ill never wake
Cos now Im thinking about you

Two-minute hailstorm then melts into rain
(oh) sing me a rainbow its sunny again
Swallows overhead while the traffic snarls below
Could I (could I) keep dreaming for a little while longer

Hope Ill never wake
When Im thinking about you
So that you know - I never want to wake
Cos now Im thinking about you

When youre searching your soul
When youre searching for pleasure
How often, pain is all you find
But when youre coasting along and nobodys trying too hard
You can turn around and like where you are

(yeah and) I hope I never wake
When Im thinking about you
And I close my eyes (dear)
Now Ill never never wake
Why should I stop thinking about you

HAPPY!!!Ü

2.8

I find myself unruffled by your existence in the space of my life and time - I find that you quite naturally fit right in. My hesitant yet unendingly curious heart finds safety in your unabashed, untainted candor - my heart is warm, very warm, always warm, and churns in quiet anticipation of having you in my arms once again. You are my present, my comfort, my challenge and yet I feel no fear - only a perpetual sense of amazement and peace.

anti-freeze and aeroplanes

I've been listening to a lot of old music (and by old I mean 5 years past or so..) and I came across this song that was all too familiar.. I never really knew what the title meant so I googled it and here's what wikipedia said:
Antifreeze is a cryoprotectant used in internal combustion engines, and
for many other heat transfer applications, such as electronics cooling and
chillers for HVAC. Compounds are added to water to reduce the freezing point of
the mixture to below the lowest temperature that the system is likely to be
exposed to, and to inhibit corrosion in cooling systems which often contain a
range of electrochemically incompatible metals (aluminum, cast iron, copper,
lead solder, etc.).
I suppose it was Scott's take on numbing the pain, basically. But with the kind of genius he is, it could've meant something more profound. I'm babbling.. I really have nothing else to say except that I miss hearing them.

lunchout

We met with the girls yesterday at Gale and had lunch at Yellow Cab after our shift, and theirs.. I heard they needed 2 million hours, hence the overtime. Good thing Macke and I loafed around Mega in search of Roanne's Sasmuan Polvoron before heading to Gale. Anyways, Roanne almost cried when she saw us.. (hormones+more hormones due to the pregnancy). She's one of those people we terribly miss and it was great seeing her so huge already at 7 months. Gena and Corie were also there and Iyah made it just in time pizza was served.

I'm not sure how long we stayed there trying to finish the pizza, the hot wings (thanks Gena!Ü) and the potato halves (thanks Behng!Ü) in between stories but all in all it was fun being with these people again. Unfortunately, I was too occupied chatting away and forgot to take pictures for blogging purposes.

The previous day though, Behng and I went to Greenbelt.. here's the same fountain Kyle jumped into on their depedida dinner 2 months ago (i think).. haha..

Greenbelt 5

And lastly, I just had to stop and take this pic at the Mac shop:

long day..

Another day of info overload at work today. It's not enough that the brokerage training has not been fully absorbed by my brain, they just had to shove everything bank now. It never occured to me that bank is an entirely different version of brokerage.. And they expect us to master everything in 2 weeks time while maintaining a 93% QD for all the audits. waah.

I just home pretty late looking for shoes in gale with Behng and it's been such a dilemma for the longest time since I tend to be picky and nothing just seems to appease me. It's bad enough that I've just seen Sex and the City on dvd and having Carrie flaunt her manolos just drives me nuts trying to find the perfect shoes. Oh well, I'll try again this weekend..

It's raining again and it's high time that I get some slumber.

TARA SANTELICES

Gene, here's me spreading the word..

THERE IS SOMETHING WE CAN DO FOR TARA SANTELICES. PLEASE FORWARD TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW.

Word spreads around fast and almost everyone has already heard about what happened to our dear friend, Tara Santelices (Assumption Antipolo’s Batch 2003 and Ateneo de Manila University’s Class of 2007, AB Political Science).

On the eve of her 23rd birthday, Tara was shot in the head during a hold-up while riding a jeepney along Imelda Avenue, Cainta, Rizal. Joee Mejias, who was with her at that time, rushed her to Amang Rodriguez Memorial Hospital in Marikina City. The parents of Tara and Joee arrived at the hospital shortly thereafter. When morning came, Tara’s parents finally decided to transfer her to the Medical City, Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City. Since 8:00am of August 6, Tara has been in the ICU fighting for her dear life. Her parents have decided not to push through with the operation.

Although it might seem that there is nothing else that we can do but wait for Tara to wake up from this horrific nightmare, we, the friends of Tara, have decided to raise funds for Tara’s hospital bills. This is the least we can do to ease the unbearable pain her family is going through. We have been given the go-signal from Tara’s dad, Tito Larry, and here are the details:

The temporary bank account is under Anne Marie F. Santelices, Banco de Oro, SA 2140-062201. For direct cash donations, please proceed to the ICU Waiting Room of the Medical City (Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City). Please look for Joee Mejias or Lila Santelices.

Any amount will be gratefully accepted. Anonymous donations are also welcome. Please spread the word. Forward this to your family, friends and even to everyone else you know. Please post this on Friendster, Multiply, Facebook and wherever else you can think of. Please send group messages on Yahoo Messenger. This will mean so much to us, her friends.

Please continue praying for Tara, for Joee and for both of their families. If you want to come see Tara, visiting hours at the ICU are at 9:00 am to 11:00 am and 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Thank you so much for your time and kind consideration.

For inquiries, please contact Joee Mejias (09228154987) for calls and Jac Ledonio (09167243071) or Myka Francisco (09163695148) for text messages.

Another week ahead

Monday again and I feel the weekend just passed me by.. I was anot able to all the things that I needed to do such as:

1. wash my rubber shoes (3 pairs of them)
2. give the dogs a bath (all 5 of them)
3. pay my bills (the internet bill is overdue and I am very afraid they
might cut it because of my delinquency)
4. review lessons from the last week

Anyways, I'll be going to the office around 9pm and sleep there until my shift (1am). I already asked Behng to bring the blanket so we can sleep in the quarters later on. Tomorrow we are going to Metrowalk to buy dvds.. Wency has been texting and might think I'm already dead or something so I'll surprise her tomorrow. .

Like the new lay-out? It took a while to get it done but I thought of simplifying the whole look because I've grown tired of the blue elephant. I think this one will work just fine.

Onto bed now my friends. I'll nap until 6pm to feel re-energized before I go off to work. I'm not feeling too well..
